About Mixed Concrete

Mixed Concrete is a fundraising art show which raises money, awareness, and support for families with inadequate housing in Chapel Hill, NC. The show will be hosted by the UNC Habitat for Humanity Club at TRU Deli + Wine Bar and will feature donated art from UNC students.  All proceeds from the show will benefit Habitat for Humanity of Orange County.

This weeklong exhibit (January 19-26, 2013) will end in a two-day silent auction fundraiser.  There will be a Friday night opening and a Saturday day event where students, families, community members, local artists, supporters of Habitat Orange Country, and Habitat homeowners will come together to support our neighbors and enjoy the work of budding UNC student-artists.

A Little Bit About Habitat for Humanity:

Since its founding in 1976, Habitat for Humanity has helped build or repair more than 600,000 houses and served more than 3 million people in nearly 90 countries.  Homeowners are selected based on their need for housing, their ability to repay a mortgage and their willingness to partner with Habitat.  Habitat is able to make housing affordable to low-income families because houses are sold through a non-profit mortgage, groups like UNC Habitat provide vital financial support, and homeowners and volunteers build under trained supervision.

UNC Habitat for Humanity is one of the largest student organizations at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill that strives to fulfill Habitat’s mission to bring people and resources together to build quality, affordable houses for those who lack adequate shelter.

UNC Habitat is partnered with Habitat for Humanity Orange County, an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International that works locally to select and support homeowners, organize volunteers, and coordinate house building.
