Mixed Concrete 2012 was a student run and student based art show that raised money for a Habitat mission trip to Honduras.  The two-week exhibit was held in Open Eye Café in Carrboro, NC.  The show was comprised of a variety of student art.  Mirroring the diversity of the student body, the exhibition was composed of various artistic mediums and themes.  There was a special fundraising event at the end of the exhibition where students from the International Habitat Team hosted a silent auction for their spring service trip to Honduras.  The event brought together students, faculty, and the UNC community.

All of the proceeds from the show went to UNC Habitat’s Honduras service trip.  Throughout the year, ten diverse and driven UNC students hosted a variety of fundraisers to finance the trip and building supplies for the home.  Over Spring Break, this team traveled to Honduras to build a home for Margarita Rodriguez and her three children.  Throughout our time in Honduras, we got to get to know an incredible family, and appreciate a new perspective on building a home.  It was an amazing experience, and THANK YOU to everyone who supported our team and Mixed Concrete last year!
